Latest Durables CPI Change: +0.43% MoM 

Price growth accelerates even as retailers ramp up discounts

Price growth in Durables picked up in March, with a month-over-month (MoM) increase of +0.43%, up from a revised +0.37% in February. All major product groups saw acceleration, signaling a broad-based firming in prices even amid aggressive seasonal promotions. 

Target.com won for most pronounced shift in retailer discounting, with discounts roughly doubling from around 9% in early March to about 20% in that discount window – a clear sign of a late‑month promotional push.

Consumer Electronics: Amazon Tablets Avg. Price Growth

The average net price for Tablets featured from key brands on Amazon.com increased by 18% YoY to an average of $829 in the month of March 2026.

• The largest driver for this increase was Apple which has seen a large increase of 28% YoY in March due to increased availability of iPad Pro models featuring the latest models, and also the 2024 and 2021 variants
  
  
• Microsoft and Samsung saw the most modest increases YoY of 2-3% to $1,327 and $592, respectively
  
  
• Amazon and Lenovo both saw large increases in their average net price YoY during the month of March
  • Amazon saw an increase of of 9% YoY to $189
  • Lenovo saw an increase of 15% YoY to an average of $250
